Nimmi Wui Yin Liaw, also known as Nimmi Platt, hails from Brunei. Her journey to the United Kingdom began in 1982 when she moved to pursue an honors degree in Education at Townhill Teachers Training College in Swansea.

During her career, Nimmi worked in real estate, where a chance meeting with her future husband’s sister led to their connection. This encounter shaped the course of her personal life, leading to her marriage and the growth of her family. She is now a mother to five children—four sons and a daughter—who have grown up and branched out across the globe, with some living in Germany, London, and others remaining in Swansea.

Nimmi has been actively engaged in her local community, with memories of her involvement in activities at the Brynmill Community Center. Her story reflects her journey from Brunei to establishing deep roots in Swansea, balancing her professional endeavors with nurturing a vibrant family and contributing to the local community.
