Salary:                      £33,782  per annum pro rata

Working hours:       Full time, 35 hours per week

Pension:                    4% employer’s pension contribution

Annual Leave:         28 days per annum including bank holidays pro rata

Job Description

Aim of the Post:

The Multilingual Autism Specialist is responsible for the coordination and completion of the funded autism project ‘Find Me”, on time within budget and within scope. This five-year project is funded by National Lottery Community Fund. The project aims to provide an advocacy, advice and information service to Chinese families living with autism and related condition with cultural sensitivity.

The post holder will need to have strong multilingual skills (especially in Cantonese, Mandarin and English), rich experience with various public services and professional knowledge in autism and related conditions. In addition, she/he will need to have strong management skills to overseeing the project. She/he should be passionate about supporting people and be proactive and self-motivated.

This post is subject to a satisfactory criminal records disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

 

Main task and responsibilities:

  • To overseeing the project on time within budget and within scope.
  • To manage and supervise a team including the project officer and volunteers to implement the project.
  • To evaluate and monitor the development of the project.
  • To plan and manage all project related activities including promotion, volunteer recruitment, training sessions and events.
  • To build and maintain relationships with project funder and partners,
  • To monitor project finance records
  • To comply with all CIWA’s policies and procedures.
  • To undertake any other duties assigned by the trustee board.

 

Person Specification

Essential:

Education / Qualifications

  1. Degree in relevant subject area (preferably autism relevant, health and social service, management) or five years related experience.

Experience

  1. Experience of supporting a membership-based network, engaging organisations and individuals to work collaboratively.
  2. Experience of delivering engaging and creative communications strategies and approaches.
  3. Experience of working with vulnerable adults and children.
  4. Experience of working in a culturally sensitive setting.
  5. Experience of working in a neuro diverse environment.
  6. Experience of project management.
  7. Experience of supporting and motivating volunteers.

Skills and abilities

  1. Excellent interpersonal, presentation (oral and written) skills and attention to details.
  2. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively and across disciplines are necessary.
  3. Excellent clear and concise written and spoken language skills in English and Chinese.
  4. Proven ability to multi-task, be flexible and meet deadlines.
  5. Problem solving skills, with a focus on finding effective solutions.
  6. Commitment to team working.
  7. Good IT skills including all Microsoft Office applications.
  8. Ability to work on own initiative and be proactive.

Desirable:

  1. Experience of promoting information through different digital platforms (website and social media).
  2. Knowledge of safeguarding and General Data Protection Regulation.
  3. Experience of working in a third sector.
  4. Experience of fund raising.
