This talk was beneficial to our Chinese community which runs takeaways, business, and private lettings. Business owners and those who intend to start a business that involves the exchange of contracts would find the content of the talk useful.

The solicitor explained in great detail on the following topic:

  1. Energy Performance Certificates (EPC)
  2. Planning Permission & Building Regulation Approval
  3. Leasehold
  4. Restraint of Trade
  5. Termination of Utility Contracts

The participants were advised how to avoid making mistakes so that they would not be fined for breach of contract or breaking the law that normally comes with substantial costs. Adding to that, be cautious in signing any form of contract without fully understanding the terms and conditions. During the Q & A, questions were raised and one asked whether we can exchange contracts without solicitors employed. The answer is a big NO. It is because the risk is too huge to take.

A big thank you to Ms Leung for her time doing legal talks for the members of the Chinese In Wales Association voluntarily.

We have this session recorded for the benefit of people who missed it and you can view it at any time on the CIWA Youtube channel: https://youtu.be/637OoiGyFBY
